Student Voice Reps (SVRs)

SVRs work to enhance learning, teaching and student experience at a Faculty level for current and future students. They have equal say at Faculty level meetings where they give feedback to staff, propose solutions to problems, and have an active role in the organisation and management of the faculty.

As a Students’ Union we are responsible for training and supporting Student Voice Reps across the entire University, working with academic departments and professional services to help students make as many positive changes as possible. The Students' Union also supports them in undertaking a research project into current student issues.

What are the main responsibilities of a Student Voice Rep?

Representation: To raise awareness of their SVR role and identify themselves to Course Reps. SVRs establish communication channels with these students to allow them to effectively represent the student body at faculty committee meetings.
Strategy: Work with university members of staff and take part in strategy and decision-making in their Faculties.
Promotion: Assist with the promotion of the Students' Union among their peers, including Elected Officer campaigns, events and any important information or updates.
Campaign: Research, campaign and produce a report on an academic issue. SVRs will liaise very closely with Course Representatives and the Elected Officers, and they may consult them on their current projects.
