Santa Gift Appeal
Add just one more present to your Christmas list this year!
The Santa Appeal is a campaign organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Council and takes place on an annual basis. The yearly tradition works by relying on the generous donations of the public. Contributions to the appeal are made in the form of gift bags and are distributed to children including those that are vulnerable and looked after, to make sure that no one misses out at Christmas!
With help from the overwhelming generosity of USW students and staff, all of the children identified by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council social workers woke up on Christmas morning last year to at least one gift, each of which had been thoughtfully selected for their specific age. Over 3,000 gifts were delivered last year, with more than 250 of those coming from our amazing USW students and staff.
How can I help?

Supporting the Santa Appeal is simple - all you have to do is give us a call on 01443 4 83500 or send an email to mel.monks@southwales.ac.uk. In return, you’ll be given the name and age of a child to make your gift bag for.

Without wrapping your gift(s), you next need to pop your presents into a gift bag and bring it along to your Students’ Union Info Desk or Office (Atrium, Newport City or Treforest) by November 25, 2019.

From here, we’ll deliver your gifts to RCT collection point so that all of the children receive their presents just in time for Christmas!
What can I buy?
Anything you might think a child of 3 months, 6 years or 13 years old might appreciate! All gift bags are checked before they are given to the children, but it’s a good idea to buy practical items such as hat, scarves and gloves as well as smaller items such as colouring pens and small toys. But ultimately the choice is yours – you can spend as little or as much as you like on making your gift bag special. Every gift this Christmas will make a difference.
Get in the true spirit of Christmas by celebrating the season through sharing and kindness. Please remember that all the presents need to be dropped off at your Students' Union Office (ATRiuM, Treforest or Newport City) by November 25th so that your gifts can be delivered in time for Christmas!
