Photography Competition

The SU Monthly Photography competition is a chance to show us your creativity and get featured on our website and social channels.

Each month, the SU Officers pick a theme and students are encouraged to send in their photography submissions. The winner will have their photography shared across all our social media platforms, reaching over 20,000 people! We will also credit the artist and include any social media tags for their work.

What are the rules?

Remember, you don't have to be a professional photographer to participate. The only rule is that the photo should be taken by you. This month, the theme is - Holidays. Your submission can be a photo of your Christmas decorations, winter mornings or anything that you associate with the theme 'Holidays' . Whether you're inside isolating or living abroad, this competition is open to all students, of all abilities, so no experience is necessary!

How can I get involved?

To participate in the competition:

  • Send us your photographs to studunion@southwales.ac.uk
  • Include a few sentences explaining why you think your submission fits the theme 'Holidays'.
  • Don't forget to include your social media handles!

Why did we introduce the photography competition this year?

The photography competition was introduced to encourage creativity during this difficult year. We wanted to focus on the positive elements and view things differently to normal. Our past two themes have been 'Black History Month' during October, and 'Mental Wellbeing' during November. We were very impressed with your submissions and can’t wait to see what amazing photographs come out of this competition.
